Alex Andre is a Los Angeles-based writer, director, producer, and cinematographer whose debut feature, PRATFALL, premiered at the Brooklyn Film Festival, where it won the Best Narrative Feature Spirit Award. The film also earned Best Actress for Chloé Groussard at the 2024 Manchester Film Festival, and has been featured in Variety, Entertainment Weekly, The Film Stage, and Film International.
Starring Joshua Burge (THE REVENANT, BUZZARD, RELAXER, VULCANIZADORA) and Groussard, PRATFALL was shot on location in New York City, where Andre served as a one-man crew — both director and cinematographer — working closely with his ensemble of actors. “This intimate involvement enabled me to shape the film in its minutiae, crafting a narrative that is as intimate as it is grand, much like New York City itself,” said Andre. He describes the film as “a darkly comedic and tragic exploration of loss, loneliness, and the profound longing for connection that lives within us all.”
The film completed a theatrical run at Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles, was digitally released in North America, and will expand internationally on May 2nd 2025. PRATFALL holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has drawn comparisons to Cassavetes, early Scorsese, and the Safdie Brothers.

Raised in the south of France and the English countryside before moving to Los Angeles, Andre cites Alan Clarke, Nicolas Roeg, and the Dardenne brothers as early cinematic influences.
Andre’s previous short film, SADA, was shot in Paris and received 12 festival awards, screening at over 20 international festivals. He also holds producing credits on Alison Bagnall’s FUNNY BUNNY and Erin Li’s KEPLER X-47.
